Electromechanical motorised clocks are only running when the electricity supply is on. This ensures reliable operation even in unstable power grids, where you still want the certainty of a long enough running time. Motor-driven clocks are therefore very commonly used in grain dryers, for example, to ensure a sufficiently long drying time even if the power supply is occasionally interrupted.
The most common models are 4h, 6h or 12h with timer, but for larger quantities customized solutions are also possible.
